Prevent Tooth Loss with Regular Periodontal Care

Your Gum Disease May Be Asymptomatic, But It Is Wreaking Havoc on Your Health

Did you know that many patients who develop gum disease never have any of the most common symptoms? In fact, periodontal disease is known as a “silent” condition because in its earliest stages it can be difficult for patients to self-detect. As the disease progresses, it begins to take a serious toll on your mouth and overall health! If left untreated, gum disease can eventually destroy your gum tissue, cause bone loss, and even lead to systemic infection including a strain on your heart.

Regular trips to the dentist are the key to quick diagnosis and rapid, effective management of periodontal disease issues. If you haven't seen a dentist in over a year, now is the time to schedule an appointment. Wanlass Dental offers new patients a complimentary consultation with comprehensive exam, and digital x-rays. Call (702) 367-4412 to schedule your appointment today!

You Have Options When It Comes to Treatment

For over 25 years, Wanlass Dental has been helping patients manage their periodontal disease using treatments such as:

Scaling and Root Planing

Gum disease fosters the formation of pockets between the gums and the teeth. Bacteria colonize in those pockets and create a situation where rapid deterioration occurs. Our specially trained hygienists clean below the gumline to remove these bacterial colonies to start the healing process. Your hygienist may recommend special gels, rinse, or antibacterial fibers to speed healing and gum tissue regeneration.

Osseous Surgery

If the bone has been damaged due to gum disease, it may have become pitted or developed pockets. Using specialized equipment, including laser gum surgery tools, Wanlass Dental can sculpt the bone to create smoother surfaces where bacteria are less likely to proliferate.

Gingivectomy

This procedure removes unhealthy gum tissue and has proven to achieve excellent results. This outpatient procedure can be done with the Waterlase iPlus for incredible precision and comfort that enables Wanlass Dental to set the stage for healthier gums to regenerate and return to their natural contours.

Bone Grafting

Based on your consultation, you may need to have a bone graft in order to maximize the outcome of dental implant surgery. While this sounds pretty scary at first, the truth is that bone grafting in the oral cavity today is a routine, predictable and painless procedure. Dr. Wanlass may suggest you have a ridge type bone graft if you are preparing to receive a dental implant after tooth loss. They are designed to fill a void left by the extracted tooth and hold the volume of this space while natural bone has the opportunity to proliferate and fill the space with high quality live bone. Once the area has healed, about3 to 6 months, you'll be ready for your dental implant.

PerioSciences Oral Care Systems

PerioSciences’ complete oral care systems redefine oral care. The family of AO Pro products utilizes novel combinations of antioxidants to target problems such as xerostomia (dry mouth), canker sores, and speed overall health.

Whether your gum disease is in the initial or advanced stage, it is critical for you to make and keep regular periodontal treatment. These will help keep your periodontal disease from progressing and allow you to enjoy the benefits of healthier teeth, gums, bone and body.
